Owlcat has announced that the upcoming Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader DLC Void Shadows has been delayed by several weeks.
In a Steam post, the developer says that the "sad" decision to delay Void Shadows was made in order to allocate additional time for polish, as well as to "eradicate anything that might spoil your experience" while exploring your voidship or romancing a companion.
The studio says it's been "putting everything we have" into Void Shadows' development, but that while the game's new additions are "awesome", the "technical quality" isn't sufficient to release the DLC in its current state.
The Void Shadows DLC was originally slated to launch on August 8th, which means the new release date represents a delay of around six weeks. Something, something, rushed game bad, delayed game good.
Rogue Trader's Void Shadows DLC was announced as part of the Warhammer Skulls showcase back in May. It's set to add around 15 additional hours of gameplay to Rogue Trader.
Void Shadows will introduce a new playable companion in the form of Kibellah, a Death Cult assassin who's "ready to pledge her life" to the von Valancius dynasty and who sounds like she'll be another viable romance option for your Lord Captain.
As well as Kibellah, you can also look forward to an extra chunk of story that Owlcat says is "fully integrated into the main campaign", as well as new crew members, new locations to explore, and more.
As for Rogue Trader itself, it's a CRPG set in the grim darkness of the Warhammer 40k universe. You take control of one of the titular Rogue Traders, and it's your job to explore the uncharted Koronus Expanse in search of new opportunities for tradecraft and discovery.
Recently, Owlcat's CRPG received its biggest update so far, adding a ton of quality-of-life improvements and gameplay tweaks to make your time in the Expanse smoother.
Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader is out right now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Void Shadows launches on September 24th across all platforms.
