Owlcat has released a new Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader update, and it's the game's biggest yet, bringing over 2500 changes to the grimdark CRPG.
The studio estimates that the new update, catchily named 1.2.0.25, is around 30% bigger than its 1.1 patch, and it brings big balance updates, improvements to locations and the UI, and much, much more.
There's arguably no one big centerpiece for this update; rather, it revolves around a litany of smaller tweaks and improvements that should all add up to create a patchwork that significantly boosts your Rogue Trader play experience.
First up, the game is getting major balancing changes including a "deep rebalance" for out-of-sequence turns, as well as late-game scaling tuning, buffs to Sanctioned Psykers and Pyromancy, and more.
You can also look forward to a bevy of quality-of-life changes like quests appearing on star systems, improved tooltips, and a better level-up screen, as well as an improved combat log.
The update adds "various improvements for locations across the game", too, including improved NPC variety and better pathing, and several companions have had new dialogue introduced so you can get to know them better.
Rumor zones are now highlighted on Rogue Trader's map, and co-operative play has been improved too, so if you're investigating those rumors alongside a friend, your experience should be a lot smoother.
The full list of changes for this Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader update is absolutely massive. You can read the full patch notes here if you wish. Just make sure you've set some time aside!
Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader is a turn-based CRPG set in the Warhammer 40k universe. Developed by Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous studio Owlcat, the game casts you as one of the titular rogue traders as you explore the barely-charted Koronus Expanse in search of new opportunities.
Like other CRPGs, Rogue Trader features a number of companions you can get to know, some of whom you can even romance, but if love in the 40k universe gives you the ick, don't worry; there's plenty of turn-based combat and exploration to go around as well.
You can check out Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader right now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
