A new leak appears to have confirmed the existence of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, a followup to the 2021 squad-based third-person shooter. If the leak is correct, the game is set to launch sometime next year.

According to a document spotted by Redditor firemonkey11 (with additional reporting from VGC), Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, which is currently codenamed Project Macondo, is set to launch in the third quarter of the 2025 financial year, which would likely mean somewhere between September and December next year.

Like its predecessor, the game will be a third-person co-op shooter, but it'll make some changes to the first game's formula, including the addition of a class system and the removal of in-game voice chat.

2021's Aliens: Fireteam Elite is getting a followup next year, apparently.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will feature "evolved enemy intelligence and behaviors", according to the leaked document, and it'll also give you the chance to test your alien-slaying skills in the new Annihilation Mode, a "new spin on Horde Mode".

The sequel will give you a choice between five different character archetypes, including the "silent assassin" Callsign Nix and the "inspiring leader" Callsign Vulcan. This represents a fairly major change over the original's more modular build-crafting system.

According to the document, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 won't feature any microtransactions, gacha systems, or in-game advertising, and it also won't support native in-game chat, instead asking players to use the voice chat included with the platform on which they're playing.

Some of these purported changes haven't proven popular with Aliens: Fireteam Elite fans; one player simply says that the plan appears to be to "make it worse" in the sequel, while another says the character classes and kits included in the leak "ain't doing it for me".

Some of Aliens: Fireteam Elite's features might not end up in its sequel.

This leak is apparently part of a larger Disney hack that also supposedly contains personal employee details, as well as information about other unannounced projects.

Disney hasn't issued a comment regarding the hack yet, but it was apparently carried out by accessing the company's internal Slack messaging system, which is also apparently how the infamous 2022 GTA 6 leak happened.

At the moment, it's worth taking these reports with a pinch of salt, but if the leak is correct, then you can likely expect an Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 announcement sometime in the near future. Stay tuned for more.
