Update: Ambertail and Team17 have confirmed that the Amber Isle Switch release date will be October 31st, so mark your calendar for that if you're looking to play on console.
Original story follows below.
Original story: Publisher Team17 and developer Ambertail Games have announced the Amber Isle release date, so get ready to open your prehistoric store and befriend a village of friendly dinos.
Amber Isle's official release date is October 10th on PC, and a Nintendo Switch version will follow soon after on October 31st.
The game sees you setting up shop on the titular Amber Isle, which a host of prehistoric animals call their home. You'll inherit a failing shop, and it's your job to turn it around and make it a profitable endeavor, all while getting to know the dinos around you.
First, you'll create what Ambertail and Team17 call a "Paleo-persona", and then you'll get stuck into stocking your shelves, haggling with customers, and looking for new things to craft and sell in your shop.
It's all being done with a view to convincing some of the folks who've left Amber Isle to come back again, bringing the island back from "the brink of fossilization". Luckily, this one doesn't have "extinction-level event" vibes.
You can check out the release date trailer, which also shows off some of Amber Isle's lovely cartoony visuals and its cozy setting, right here.
You'll be able to name your shop whatever you like, and you'll also have control over what it looks like, so you can decorate it however you please.
Amber Isle has 48 different "Paleofolk" (that's the dinos and other animals that make up the community) to meet, and they're not all dinosaurs, either; some are Ice Age mammals, while others might be invertebrates or marine life.
If you're a fan of games like Moonlighter or Recettear, not to mention Paleo Pines, then you'll probably want to give this one a look. Amber Isle launches for PC on October 10th, with a Switch version to follow on October 31st.
