2K has officially revealed WWE 2K24, this year's installment of the long-running WWE 2K wrestling sim series.
Launching in March, the game follows on from last year's WWE 2K23, which featured iconic wrestler John Cena as its cover star and main career character.
Since 2024 represents the 40th anniversary of WrestleMania, WWE 2K24 will launch with a Showcase of the Immortals career mode, similar to the 30 Years of WrestleMania mode in WWE 2K14. It'll let you recreate classic matches from WrestleMania history.
This time around, the cover athletes are many and varied; the standard edition features Cody Rhodes, while the Deluxe Edition boasts Rhea Ripley and Bianca Blair on its cover.
The 40 Years of WrestleMania edition of the game, meanwhile, features an assortment of legendary WWE wrestlers, including The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Hulk Hogan, plus more.
Development will once again be handled by Visual Concepts, who've been custodians of the WWE 2K franchise since the much-maligned WWE 2K20, with former developer Yuke's moving on to create AEW: Fight Forever.
Don't let that discourage you, though; Visual Concepts also handled development on WWE 2K22, which many considered to be a significant return to form (an opinion seemingly reflected by the sales figures).
As well as the 40 Years of WrestleMania mode, WWE 2K24 will also feature "new match types, updated gameplay, and more", according to 2K and Visual Concepts.
These match types include Ambulance matches, Guest Referee spots, and Casket bouts, and Backstage Brawl will now support multiple wrestlers too.
In addition to these new modes, MyRise, MyFaction, and MyGM will all return, as will the Universe Mode. WWE 2K24 sure sounds like a pretty feature-packed prospect.
You'll be able to check out WWE 2K24 when it launches across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on March 4th. Of course, each edition also boasts the usual bevy of pre-order bonuses, which you can check out over on 2K's official website.
