CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 3 REDkit, a modding tool for critically-acclaimed open-world RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is launching later this month.
According to a post on the official Witcher X (formerly Twitter) account, REDkit will arrive on May 21st, and it'll be available across Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
The tool will be free for everyone who owns The Witcher 3 on any of those platforms, and it'll allow you to create and edit your very own mods for the game, so you can create pretty much whatever your mind can conjure.
REDkit was created by CD Projekt Red and Hungarian co-development studio Yigsoft, with whom CDPR has worked before. The two have collaborated on The Witcher 3, as well as Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion Phantom Liberty.
The tool claims to offer "advanced features and unparalleled flexibility". It's built on the same tools as the ones used by The Witcher 3's developers, although the studios do say you may "require access to external tools" to achieve "the full scope of development akin to the original creators".
Using REDkit, you can make your own quests, weapons, and items, and if you're feeling particularly advanced, you can even create your own animations and worlds within The Witcher 3.
Considering how expansive the original game and its DLCs are, it's pretty exciting to think about what kind of things Witcher 3 players will be able to conjure with this tool.
If you just can't wait to try out REDkit, then you can sign up for access to the playtest version on Steam, although the Epic and GOG versions don't seem to support this feature.
