Winter Survival has a Story Mode, but that's not the only way to play — you can also put your crafting and survival skills to the test in a number of neverending scenarios called Endless Mode. In this guide, well explain how it works and how to select the right scenario for you!

How Endless Mode Works in Winter Survival

Winter Survival Endless Mode is different from the Story Mode in four key ways:

1. New crafting and building recipes are unlocked by raising your Adaptation Level instead of completing Story Quests.
2. The Cabin from Story Mode (and other set pieces) do not exist.
3. Most (if not all) Quests from Story Mode are not available.
4. More areas of the Map are accessible compared to the early parts of Story Mode.

Endless Mode Setup Choices

When you start Endless Mode, you'll have to make some choices:

1. Explorer / Survival / Custom: Pick the game's difficulty and mechanics.
2. What Happened?: Picks your starting scenario.
3. Equipment Condition: Determines the durability of your starting equipment.
4. When Did It Happen?: Picks the time of day when you start.
5. How Was the Weather?: Selects the starting weather.
6. What Does This Picture Depict?: Selects the hostile wildlife that you can encounter.

Making the sixth and final choice will start Endless Mode.

How to Unlock All Winter Survival Endless Mode Scenarios

There are four scenarios that you can choose from in Endless Mode. These scenarios are decided by selecting the "What Happened" screen when you select Endless Mode.

Here are the scenarios you can pick from:

Home

The "Home" Scenario starts you in a cave with some basic supplies, a Spear on the wall, and access to a decent starting area. You will always start in the same cave with the same supplies.

You'll also have a Quest to build a home, either in a specific location or elsewhere.

Nothing

Selecting "Nothing" will place you at a random location on the map with some basic equipment and not much else. You'll have to find or craft the rest of the tools you'll need to survive.

Sickness

The "Sickness" Scenario starts in a rudimentary cabin with a lit fire and some basic supplies. You'll start with a cold and not much in the way of medicine for it.

You'll also have to complete a quest

I Don't Remember

As far as we can tell, the "I Don't Remember" Scenario will place you at a random location on the map. It may randomly choose from any of the other available scenarios.
