Both story mode and endless mode in Winter Survival offer their own unique challenges and potential dangers. However, you'll need to make sure to gather lots of resources regardless of the mode you choose to play.
Winter Survival Crafting Unlocks List | Endless Mode
In Endless mode, new crafting recipes are unlocked by increasing your Adaption Level. This increases as you gain XP from most activities, including gathering materials and placing buildings.

Winter Survival Crafting Unlocks List | Story Mode
Here's how to unlock the essential equipment in Winter Survival's Story Mode.
Act I
- Carpentry Station: The Carpentry Station is unlocked as soon as you make it to the cabin; you'll find a Carpentry Station outside.
- Softwood Stone Axe - Complete the quest "Footsteps of Friends" in the early game and you'll find a Softwood Stone Axe stuck in a crate. After that, you should be able to craft them.
- Hunting Station: You'll get access to a Hunting Station after you gain access to the basement; you'll get into the basement after you build the Bonfire, go to sleep, and live through the bear attack on the cabin.
- Tool Station: You'll be able to craft a Tool Station after you encounter the bear attacking the cabin.
