Games Workshop has released a new preview for one of their Warhammer Age of Sigmar properties. Specifically, one of the new warbands for Warhammer Underworlds, Zondara's Gravebreakers.
The Warhammer Underworlds Zondara's Gravebreakers preview
In an official Warhammer-Community post, Games Workshop goes into detail on Warhammer Underworlds Zondara's Gravebreakers. This new warband is part of the Soulblight Gravelords but has a graverobbing twist.
According to the lore, Zondara's forces are driven by the obsession of uncovering lost secrets of Necromancy. Not for conquest, but to cure her lover, Ferlain, of a horrendous disease. To that end, she will stop at nothing and plunder any tomb for this dark power.
That play style is in full force in Warhammer Underworlds. The warband's Unearthed Treasures ability lets you pick a gravesite within range and plunder it for resources. You might get nothing, or you might get revived units or an artifact of power.
But Warhammer Underworlds Zondara's Gravebreakers weren't the only part getting previewed. The post also dove into the Rimelocked Relics Deck. This deck represents the supernatural subzero temperatures of the new setting of the Deathgorge, as well as the powerful relics contained under that ice.
Players have the option to thaw out powerful upgrades with this deck. This is done by managing Thaw counters throughout the game. Those upgrades include Frostgale, a powerful bow with the Ensnare keyword, Polar Connection which amplifies warriors sitting on an objective, and Gelid Cyclone which teleports units to unoccupied objectives.
In addition, the deck contains new Gambit + Plot and Objective Cards. Icebound Defenders lets you score if you hold two or more objectives, which incentivizes playing objectives. Fractured Steps is a useful gambit for repositioning fighters currently thawing out a card. On the other hand, Winterborne Might lets you trade a Thaw counter for extra damage.
Both the Warhammer Underworlds Zondara's Gravebreakers and Rimelocked Relics Deck will be available for pre-order tomorrow.
