Today Riot Games revealed the next character coming to its popular FPS Valorant, a Scottish agent named Clove.
Clove is a Controller, and she will be introduced in Episode 8: Act II.
Today we get to see both a music video and a trailer with gameplay, and Clove's kit is certainly peculiar.
Clove can resurrect herself if she dies and her ultimate is ready, but then she has only a small timeframe to get a kill or assist and absorb the life energy of an opponent to stay alive.
Another of her abilities sticks to the theme of death, nd she can deploy her smokes in an area close to where she died even while she's dead.
She also has an area-of-effect debuff that she can throw at opponents and a self-buff that is used by absorbing the life energy of a fallen enemy.
She's designed for aggressive players who want to play the Controller role, and the fact that she can still fight after death certainly fits the bill.
If you're not familiar with Valorant, it's a first-person hero shooter currently available exclusively for PC.
Recently, the game survived a massive wave of layoffs at Riot Games that saw the cutting of about 530 jobs. Unfortunately, this also resulted in the elimination of the Riot Forge label, which has been working with external developers to expand the LoL lore and world. Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story is the last game for the brand as Riot refocuses its resources on its core games.
That being said, the developer is still working on its fighting game set in Runeterra which is now titled 2XKO, and on a MMORPG in the same setting, albeit its development has been rebooted and we won't hear about it for quite some time.
