As you’d expect from a game about vampires, blood plays an important part in V Rising. You must think about which victims to suck blood from, with the types of blood each relating to different play styles. In our V Rising Blood Types Guide, we’ll go over the basics of blood, and the bonuses you’ll be able to get.
V Rising Blood Types, Explained
Obtaining blood in V Rising is simple enough, simply requiring you to lower a living being (that’s not a boss) to low health. From there, pressing Feed (default F key) will start a lengthy feeding animation. Finishing this will grant you the Blood Type of that NPC, while also killing them.
When you obtain a Blood Type, it will also be of a certain quality — this can be viewed by hovering the mouse over an enemy. Blood quality determines the number of bonus effects activated, along with their potency. This value maxes out at 100%, and is completely random (i.e. two wolves of the same level can have wildly different blood quality). Blood type and blood quality is replaced when feeding on a new NPC.
Blood quality bonuses are split into five tiers, with the last one always granting a 30% boost to the previous tiers. The unlock requirement for these tiers are:
- I: Always active on all non-Frailed Blood Types
- II: 30% blood quality or higher
- III: 60% blood quality or higher
- IV: 90% blood quality or higher
- V: 100% blood quality
The bonuses given also increase in effectiveness as your blood quality increases. So, even though you gain the II bonus at 30% quality, you don’t get the full effect unless you’re at 100%.
Finally, players can use the Dominate Human ability to lead NPCs to Prison Cells and hold them indefinitely. You can then continually harvest Blood from these prisoners to have an indefinite supply of a particular Blood Type. It's a good idea to capture enemies with a high percentage of a Blood Type so you will always have access to it.

V Rising Blood Type Bonuses
Here is a list of every V Rising Blood Type and the bonuses you can get from them.
Frailed
- No bonus
The default blood when starting a new character, respawning after dying, or when using a heart or rat consumable item. Frailed offers no extra bonuses, though you still have a blood pool that can be used for healing. There’s no reason to keep the Frailed Blood Type for long.
Creature
- I: 3%–15% Movement Speed.
- II: 10–25 Increased Sun Resistance rating.
- III: 8%–16% Damage Reduction.
- IV: 100% increased Health Regeneration.
- V: Boost all above effects by 25%.
The Creature Blood Type is generally the easiest to obtain (outside of Frailed at least), and can be taken from the various wildlife roaming the map. Unlike the variety of Blood Types that are available from human NPCs, all animals give the same Creature Blood Type.
Creature is useful for map traversal, as it gives you a boost to movement speeds even at low quality. Damage reduction can be nice for extra survivability, but for combat you’d be better served picking the non-Worker Blood Types.
Rogue
- I: 10%–20% chance to Critical Strike on Weapon Attacks.
- II: 8%–15% Movement Speed.
- III: 15%–30% increased Veil cooldown recovery rate. 100% chance to critical strike on next physical attack after using a Veil.
- IV: 50% Chance on critical strike to expose victims' Armor., increasing damage taken from all sources by 15% for 4s.
- V: Boost all above effects by 25%.
The Rogue Blood type is the perfect Blood Type for a quick, aggressive playstyle. It allows you to get in close to opponents, while also gaining a higher chance to crit. It's especially effective when paired with the movement abilities of Slasher weapons.
Warrior
- I: 10%–15% Increased Physical Power.
- II: 10%–25% Increased Weapon Skill cooldown recovery rate.
- III: 6%–12% Reduced damage taken and 25% increased damage when striking enemies at full health.
- IV: 10% Chance to parry an attack reducing damage taken by 50%. Parrying an attack increases your own Damage by 20%.
- V: Boost all above effects by 25%.
The Warrior Blood type favours defensive playstyles, though you still gain some damage buffs. Helpful when using slower, close-range weapons like Maces, along with shield abilities. The parry ability, in particular, makes this Blood Type a good choice for a "tank" playstyle.
Brute
- I: 6%–12% Primary Attack Life Leech.
- II: 8%–16% increased Primary Attack Speed and gain 1 Gear Level.
- III: 15%–30% increased healing received. Heal self for 4% of your victim's health when striking a killing blow.
- IV: 6% chance per relative health recovered to boost movement speed by 20% and damage of primary attacks by 20%.
- V: Boost all above effects by 25%.
The Brute Blood type features a good mix of survivability and damage. At high blood quality, it’s possible to heal back any damage taken, buffing damage along the way. Can be stacked with the Veil of Blood travel ability for even more healing.
Scholar
- I: 10%–20% increased Spell Power.
- II: 10%–20% increased Spell Cooldown Recovery Rate.
- III: 5%–10% Spell Life Leech.
- IV: 15% chance ot reset Spell Cooldowns on cast.
- V: Boost all above effects by 25%.
Unlike the other human Blood Types, the Scholar Blood type is entirely focused on spells. Affects all abilities, and can make ultimates even more deadly. Being able to reset spells at high blood quality is a potent effect, allowing for spell spam if lucky enough.
Worker
- I: 10%–30% increased resource yield.
- II: 15%–25% increase Damage against Resource Objects.
- III: 10%–20% increased Mount Gallop Speed.
- IV: 3% chance to instantly destroy a resource node and trigger a burst of speed.
- V: Boost all above effects by 25%.
Obtained primarily from miners and non-aggressive humans, the Worker Blood type is perfect if you’re planning to farm lots of materials. Since none of the bonuses relate to combat in any way, you want to stay away from enemies while using this Blood Type.
Draculin
- I: 10%–20% Movement Speed during the Night.
- II: 10%–20% Increased Damage against enemies below 30% Health.
- III: 50%–100% Increased Healing received from Blood Mend.
- IV: Grants 1 additional Bite charge and heal for 5% of your maximum health when killing an enemy using Bite.
- V: Boost all above effects by 25%.
The Draculin Blood Type is perhaps the rarest V Rising Blood Type. It is only found in Dracula's Demise at the center of the map and other areas populated by Vampire Cultists such as certain zones in Ruins of Mortium.
