Bandai Namco has announced the release date for Tekken 8's upcoming DLC character Eddy Gordo, and it won't be long before you can once again dazzle your opponents with his capoeira moves.
Eddy, who was revealed as Tekken 8's first DLC character back in January, will make his Tekken 8 debut on April 4th (according to Pacific time, that is; your specific time may vary depending on your region).
Early access to the character will be available on April 1st (again, according to Pacific time) if you own the Year 1 Pass, which is also included in the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions of the game.
News of Eddy's release date was accompanied by the customary gameplay trailer, and his moves look exactly as fluid and graceful as you'd expect.
He first goes up against new character Azucena, and if you're a fan of Tekken games gone by, you'll almost certainly recognize many of Eddy's moves and combos.
Following his battle with Azucena, he then takes on Nina Williams, and we get to see his Rage Art, in which he uses his dance moves to create a whirlwind, delivering devastating blows while spectral musicians play traditional Brazilian music behind him.
You can check out Eddy's gameplay trailer right here. It's a great showcase for a character that many Tekken fans have been looking forward to seeing again.
If you'd like a more in-depth look at how Eddy will work in Tekken 8, Bandai Namco's latest Tekken Talk features noted Eddy player Noriyuki "Hameko" Kaneko getting to grips with Tekken 8's version of the character.
This video goes into much more detail regarding Eddy's moves and how they work. Since Hameko-san and his opponent are using the training mode, however, you won't get to see too much of how Eddy will play at a high level. It's more of a tutorial than a showcase.
You can check out Hameko-san playing as Eddy in the video below. His time with the character starts at around an hour and 13 minutes in.
Eddy Gordo comes to Tekken 8 on April 4th. If you bought the Deluxe or Ultimate Editions of the game, or if you bought the Year 1 Pass, you can check him out three days earlier on April 1st.
The game itself is available right now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you'd like to know more about the game, be sure to take a look at our very own Erren's interview with director Kohei Ikeda and producer Michael Murray.
