View of Iron Island from the Underwater Temple in the Puma Region.

The Puma region really starts to heat things up in Survival: Fountain of Youth. After learning some mind-blowing secrets in the Buffalo Region, the search continues for the Fountain of Youth. The region has nine locations to map, including the three main islands.

Underwater Temple

Upon arriving, you'll be tasked to search the Underwater Temple, which is located ahead of where you load in, but off to the left. The main structure sticks out of the water, allowing you to sail over to it. You'll need to swim a lot to complete this section of the story, so having a Breathing Bubble is a good idea. You can finish all requirements without it, so don't worry if you haven't discovered how to craft Leather, yet.

At the top of the temple you'll find a Bird's Nest, with two accompanying Harpies. The center area has a Living Water jug, while the edges are littered with various resources, including Clay, an Obsidian Shard, and a Massive Stone Deposit. The top isn't how you get into the temple,  however.

The actual entrance is Underwater, with the doorway located on the side with the stone deposit. Before then, you want to activate the three colored monoliths found around the temple on the ocean floor. Each of them are guarded by three electric rays. These creatures don't attack, but when you get too close they'll release an electric discharge. Killing a ray is a Steam achievement, and they have a necessary resource, but you don't need to slay one if you don't want to.

Underwater Temple monolith locations.

The red monolith is located on the same side of the temple as the entrance. To activate it, you just need to interact with it. The green monolith is on the opposite side of the temple, with the blue one on the right side. You want to make note of the symbols on each, but you can access their inscriptions in the journal.

Head to the temple interior. There's a puzzle mechanism, matching levers with a book in front, and a puzzle hint on the altar. Use the levers to move the same colored ring around the mechanism. Each color has to match the symbol of the corresponding monolith to open the gates that lead upwards.

The upper floor has a chronicle, as well as the dead body of Jacob Eliasso, and his diary. Picking up the journal triggers a cutscene, ending with a story quest update and a newly assigned side quest. On the other side of the room in front of the stone chair is a Piece of Natives Map.

Iron Island

You don't necessarily need to head to Iron Island first, but it's a good idea as the resource will boost your gear significantly. The best landing site is the closest to the Underwater Temple, as well. Sail forward to the archway, where you can disembark onto a stone walkway. There are numerous ways you can go to reach the central destination on this island. The puma graphic glows thanks to the volcano, which has all the iron locations inside it.

The easiest route, and one of the more direct paths, brings you through boar and puma territory. The cats are fast, and will follow you for some time. You'll also start getting burn and heat statuses. Be aware some areas have lava running through the rocks, which can cause five or more damage when touched.

Route through Iron Island to the volcano and iron mines.

Inside the volcano you'll find a small village of people that are covered in dry lava. You want to have a torch so you can see and to keep the scorpions away from you. Follow the path until you come to an area with two small huts guarded by a puma. Going to the left brings you to a hole in the wall, then to another room that contains a chronicle and a Piece of Natives Map.

The right hut has a Buffalo Potion in it, then leads to a broken ladder. Repair it with Liana Rope to continue into the volcano. When you start seeing waterfalls of magma, head to the right down the path to find the sailor's camp. There's an entry from the Engineer, as well as a book on a table. Near the coconuts there's a map of Sulfur Island, located in the Snake Region. This unlocks the way to sail to the fourth area of Survival: Fountain of Youth.

The camp has a cart which is helpful in grabbing large amounts of ore. It'll traverse over stairs, up ladders, and down ridges, so make use of the extra carry weight. There is a path upwards out of the volcano, but it doubles back to the same area you just entered from. Exit the volcano and prepare to set sail to Foggy Island.

Foggy Island

Foggy Island engineer map location.

Foggy Island is to the southwest of Iron Island and covered in a thick fog no matter which way you sail at it. There are a number of shipwrecks littering the land, along with various journal entries showing that the island has never been without fog. There's also a hint of the supernatural in the writings, with footsteps in the mist being heard. The traversable landmass is small, and you want to head to the east towards a tree. That's where you'll find a sailor, his note, as well as a diary from the killer a bit away.

Craggy Island

While it's not mentioned in the main story, heading to Craggy Island is the only way to face the Great Jackal boss. The island is to the east of Foggy Island and is quickly reached from it. Another tiny location, there's a couple iron mines here, but the main reason to visit is the boss fight. Defeating the Great Jackal earns you an achievement, as well as the second most powerful melee weapon in the game.

Those are the main areas you should explore in the Puma Region of Survival: Fountain of Youth. The Snake Region is next, and the mystery of the unknown killer and if the Fountain of Youth exists remains.
