Steam shattered its concurrent user record again over the weekend, with the total number of players enjoying games through Steam reaching almost 37 million amid a summer sale that's offering some serious bargains.
According to Steam data platform SteamDB, the Steam user count reached 36,928,521 yesterday, which represents a new all-time peak. Naturally, the user count is a little lower right now, but it's still hovering at around 33.5 million.
This breaks the record set by Steam users back in March, when the total concurrent user count reached 36,354,393, representing a leap of almost three million over the previous month. Perhaps not coincidentally, March is also when the last major Steam sale took place.
Frankly, it's no wonder that so many people are flocking to Steam right now, because some of the deals that are available as part of the Summer Sale are irresistible.
Elden Ring, which is enjoying a renaissance right now thanks to the release of its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, is available at a 30% discount, and if you'd like to take a trip back in time to check out one of its vastly underrated cousins, then Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice can be yours at half price.
If you prefer a more thoughtful, strategic approach to RPGs, you might want to check out Disco Elysium, which is up for grabs at a frankly astonishing 90% discount. You may also want to take a look at Wasteland 3, available at 66% off, or Baldur's Gate 3, which can be yours at 20% off.
Recent Steam hit Manor Lords has had 25% slashed off its price as part of this Steam sale, and while we're on the subject of city-builders, you can get Frostpunk at 90% off ahead of the upcoming release of its sequel.
In short, no matter what your tastes might be, you're bound to find something you love in the Steam sale. You can check it out here if you want to go hunting for deals.
