What Can You Do in Stardew Valley?
There's a lot of cool stuff that you can do in Stardew Valley, whether you're playing by yourself or with friends.
Farming
Since Stardew Valley is a Farming RPG, it should come as no surprise that farming is a big part of the game. You can plant crops, fruit trees, and more on your farm (and in certain other places in the game world, too).
Farming can be extremely profitable, especially if you lean heavily into producing Artisan goods such as Wines.
Foraging
Foraging involves exploring the map for naturally-growing crops, such as Leeks in the Spring. While you won't get rich by selling these, it will give you a good source of early-game food.
Raising Animals
It costs money to keep animals alive, but they'll happily provide you with useful produce in return. Best of all, you can take the milk, wool, and eggs you get from your farm animals and turn them into even more valuable Artisan goods for a relatively small investment in some equipment.
Mining
The Mine isn't open until a few days after the game begins. Once it is, you'll be able to dive in and collect precious metals, gems, and more. However, the Mine is not without its dangers...
Fighting Monsters in the Mines (and Beyond)
...because you'll also have to fight monsters. Defeating these monsters gives you valuable loot and is challenging enough in its own right.
Once you've conquered the Mines, there are still more places to explore like the Skull Cavern in the Desert and the Volcano Dungeon on Ginger Island. Be careful, though -- these mid-game and late-game dungeons are much more challenging!
Fishing
If you prefer to get food (and earn money) without as much running around, you can always try your hand at Fishing. The game world boasts multiple locations (each with its own fish); furthermore, different fish will spawn depending on the season, the time of day, and/or the weather. It's a challenge to catch 'e mall!
Collecting Things
Aside from collecting fish, there are all sorts of other things to find in the world: Artifacts, crops, weapons, armor, and more! All of these items are tracked in-game. Trying to collect everything and 100% the game can be seriously tough!
Making Friends
Lest we forget, your social life is a big part of Stardew Valley. There are dozens of NPCs to make friends with, and you can even marry some of them! (If you want to make friends in real life, though, we can't help you there -- perhaps you should invite them to play Stardew Valley with you?)
How To Get Married
You can get married in Stardew Valley by waiting for it to rain in any season other than Winter. Then, you have to travel to the beach at night while it's raining, head to the eastern section, and buy the Mermaid's Pendant from the Old Mariner for 5,000 G. You won't be able to buy the Mermaid's Pendant if you don't have a 10-star relationship with at least one bachelor or bachelorette.
Can You Marry Other Players?
Yes, you can marry another player in Stardew Valley. You will need to purchase the recipe for a Wedding Ring from the Traveling Cart for 500G; you can find the cart in Cindersap Forest on Fridays and Sundays. Then, you will need to craft the Wedding Ring for 5 Iridium Bars and 1 Prismatic Shard. Once that's done, all you have to do is hand it to the other player you wish to marry. If they accept, you'll have a wedding ceremony three days later.
How To Move Buildings
You can move buildings in Stardew Valley by talking with Robin at the Carpenter Shop. This does not have any cost.
How To Move the Greenhouse
You can move the Greenhouse in Stardew Valley by talking with Robin at the Carpenter's Shop. However, you have to have unlocked the Greenhouse before you can move it.
Can Your Animals Die in Stardew Valley?
Yes, your animals can die in Stardew Valley. Fortunately, it is very rare -- it will typically only happen if you leave animals outside at night and you lock up the Coop or Barn they're living in. Make sure to bring your animals inside every night!
