Today Stardew Valley developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone finally announced the release date of update 1.6 for the ultra-popular farming sim.
According to a post on X (formerly Twitter), the update will come out on March 19 for PC. The console versions didn't get a specific release date, but they'll come "as soon as possible" afterward.
This is especially happy news for the vibrant community dedicated to the beloved game, as the wait for update 1.6 has lasted over two years.
We also learn that the game has now passed over 30 million units sold, which is absolutely flattering.
Over the years, we have learned quite a bit about what we can expect from update 1.6. Recently, we heard the following, albeit it was just a sneak peek and there could be more.
- A new major festival
- Two new mini festivals
- New late-game content, which expands on each of the skill areas.
- New items and crafting recipes
- Joja alternatives to some of the end-game quests.
- 100+ new lines of dialogue
- Winter outfits for the villagers
- New type of reward for completing billboard requests.
- (PC) Support for 8 player multiplayer
- Many small additions and adjustments

- New secrets & more
Of course, we'll let you know as soon as the final patch notes are shared.
If you're unfamiliar with Stardew Valley, the game was originally released in 2016 by solo developer ConcernedApe. The original launch for PC was followed by PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation Vita, and even mobile over the following three years.
