Nintendo has announced the release date for the Side Order portion of Splatoon 3's DLC expansion pass.
Releasing on February 22nd, Side Order will take you to the Spire of Order, an ominous tower containing hordes of enemies and scores of traps for you to overcome.
Unlike Splatoon 3's many and varied Seasons, Side Order is paid content, but if you already own the Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass, then you'll already have access to it when it launches.
The Side Order DLC is "designed to be replayed over and over", according to Nintendo, so it's probably the closest thing you're going to get to a Splatoon 3 roguelike mode.
As you explore the tower and battle waves of enemies, you'll receive color chips that you can install into a palette, allowing you to access new abilities.
Side Order's campaign is exclusively single-player, so you won't be able to play it alongside your friends or with online randoms, but perhaps that's for the best given that it looks pretty frenetic.
If you're not familiar with Splatoon 3, it's the third installment in Nintendo's anarchic third-person shooter series Splatoon.
Released back in September 2022, Splatoon 3 features a host of multiplayer gameplay modes, as well as a single-player campaign that takes you to the ruins of Alterna, an underground city now inhabited by the dastardly Ocatarians.
Since launch, Splatoon 3 has received plenty of new content, including cosmetics, weapons, and, of course, the first wave of the expansion pass, which brought the city of Inkopolis to the game in February last year.
Splatoon 3 is available right now on Nintendo Switch, and its Side Order DLC launches on February 22nd. You can check out our reviewer Dan Rockwood's glowing write-up of the game if you need an excuse to pick it up.
