Today A44 Games released a new trailer of its upcoming "Souls-Lite RPG" Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn focusing on combat.
The trailer, introduced by animation director Matthew Wood, provides a look at the mechanics created to make the combat feel visceral and dynamic, including the animations that follow a specific pace.
Interestingly, we also get to see traversal mechanics, that let you zip through the levels quickly.
The video also shows how you can get enemies down to a certain amount of health and then execute Glory Kills, both with your axe and with your pistol. They're fairly gruesome and they look pretty spectacular.
You can watch it below and see if it tempts you to pre-order the game. If you so wish, you can reserve a physical copy on Amazon.
Incidentally, this is not all we're getting in the short term, as today we also hear that an "extended gameplay reveal" is coming next week.
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is coming in the Summer of 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store). The game originally had an early 2023 release window, but it's obviously taking quite a bit more time in the oven than initially planned.
The game puts you in the boots of Nor Vanek, an elite member of the Coalition army and a God-Killer accompanied by the fox-like creature Enki. Your task is to fight against the Gods themselves and their armies of undead to save your homeland and its people.
If you'd like to read more about the game, we have a preview you can read from 2022. Obviously, a lot may have changed since then, but it's still a good way to get some information about what you can expect.
