Critical Role has announced a Candela Obscura Live Performance that will be taking place next month on May 25th. This one-night performance will showcase the TTRPG system of the same name created by Darrington Press, the tabletop gaming arm of Critical Role Productions.
Candela Obscura is an original anthology horror series that follows an esoteric order of investigators, ranging from professors to criminals to mediums, who join the secret order of “Candela Obscura” and work together to confront mysterious, chaotic, and supernatural forces.
The performance will be led by Spenser Starke, who will be the Game Master for the evening. The players around the table will be Critical Role founders Matthew Mercer, Laura Bailey, and Marisha Ray. They will also be accompanied by Khary Payton (The Walking Dead, Teen Titans). Another of Critical Role's founders Talisen Jaffe will be serving as the evening's "Master of Ceremonies".
In our review of the Candela Obscura TTRPG system we praised it's Core Rulebook for the depth of information that GMs are provided about the world of Candela Obscura, the Fairelands, it's emphasis on creation a fiction-first story not letting mechanics get in the way of the adventure, and it's careful balance of horror and safety.
