Back in 2022, Steamforged Games announced they were developing official tabletop adaptations of the long-running fantasy MMO Runescape. These Runescape Kingdoms board games have seen success on Kickstarter, now they are finally available to general audiences.
The Runescape Kingdoms Retail Release
According to an official press release, Steamforged Games, the same talented studio behind the Epic Encounters product line and the Horizon Zero Dawn board game, will officially be releasing two of their Runescape Kingdoms board games to certain online outlets and smaller hobby stores.
The first of these is Runescape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg. This game was successfully crowdfunded via Kickstarter in 2023, raising $948,049 on the platform. The game is a 1-5 player co-op experience where you work together exploring the world of Gielnor, completing quests, and slaying monsters.
These quests include more dynamic, propulsive adaptations of quests from the Runescape MMO as well as smaller, more offbeat quests meant to sharpen players' various skills. It is unclear when expansions to the game will be available.
The second of these games is an official Runescape Kingdoms Roleplaying Game. This game uses an accessible and elegant TTRPG system utilizing three six-sided dice. The game will capture the essence of Runescape's epic but irreverent tone while providing game masters the tools to tell memorable stories with their players.

The Runescape Kingdoms Roleplaying Game and Shadow of Elvarg board game are available now on Amazon, Steamforged Games' website, the Runescape merchandise store, and hundreds of independent hobby stores.
