A classic platforming mascot is getting a board game adaptation. Rayman, the Ubisoft mascot, has starred in several beloved platformers in the past two decades. Now thanks to board game developer FLYOS, Rayman The Board Game will bring the same energy to gaming tables.
Rayman The Board Game Announcement
According to the official website, Rayman The Board Game is a cooperative experience for 2-5 players. You will team up with various Rayman characters in an epic race, avoiding obstacles and rescuing Teensies along the way. The Glade of Dreams isn't going to save itself after all.
It is clear from the artwork and promo material that Rayman The Board Game is adapting the more recent stylized 2D entries: 2011's Rayman Origins and 2013's Rayman Legends respectively. A screenshot of the box art shows two high-quality painted miniatures of Rayman and Globox.
This board game adaptation is the first bit of new content for the platforming mascot. After a string of solidly received platformers dating back to 1995, the series was supplanted by a group of impish support characters in the 2006 party game Rayman: Raving Rabbids in 2006. The Rabbids went on to get sequels, spin-offs, and animated shows.
Since then Rayman has appeared more as a support character. His most recent videogame appearance has been as DLC in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. As for other media appearances, he showed up as a vice-stricken news anchor in the Netflix animated series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix.
Rayman The Board Game is being designed by Maxime Tardiff. Tardiff is an acclaimed board game designer whose credits include Earth, a strategic card engine game where you create and manage unique biomes, the competitive ant colony management game BrilliAnts, and the environmentally-minded Diver City.
Rayman The Board Game is set to release in Q3 2024.
