Once Human developer Starry Studio has revealed that the game will only allow you to create one character per account at launch, with support for more coming later.
In a new release FAQ posted ahead of Once Human's launch later today, Starry Studio says that once you've joined a server, you won't be able to create characters on any other server, nor will you be able to create additional characters on your main server.
However, the studio does say it's planning to add support for multiple characters per account in August, although it doesn't clarify whether this means multiple characters per server will also be allowed.
The launch FAQ also contains a number of answers to other questions that might be relevant to your Once Human experience, including whether or not game accounts are cross-platform.
The answer to that one, in case you're wondering, is yes, although "some account types, such as Steam accounts", don't support cross-platform play "due to their inherent limitations". Crossplay, however, is fully supported between PC and mobile.
If you're wondering whether to choose PvE or PvP-style play for Once Human, Starry Studio says they're functionally very similar; all of the game's PvE challenges will also be available in PvP, but with the added spicy bonus of fighting other players.
You'll also see a ton of troubleshooting information for problems that might occur when you're installing or trying to play Once Human, so make sure to check out the FAQ if you're having any trouble later today.
If you're wondering what exactly Once Human is, it's a multiplayer open-world survival game inspired by the work of H.P. Lovecraft, as well as the New Weird literary school, which includes authors like China Miéville and Jeff VanderMeer.
The game takes place in a world ravaged by an apocalypse caused by a mysterious alien creature known only as Stardust. You'll have to battle monsters infected with Stardust to cleanse them and the world around you, all while gathering new weapons and building a base from which to stage your adventures.
Once Human launches for PC and mobile devices later today. It's free to play, so it won't cost you anything to download it and check it out.
