Hello Games has released the No Man's Sky Echoes update, marking the game's seventh anniversary, which it's celebrating this month.

The update adds new story which follows on from April's Interceptor update, giving you the chance to meet the long-hidden Autophage robot civilization and learn its ways.

The Autophage boast "bodies cobbled together from scrap metal", according to Hello Games, as well as a variety of different styles and body shapes.

As part of a new mission chain, you'll meet and befriend the Autophage alongside Priest Entity Nada, exploring their origins and the implications they might have for the wider universe.

As well as this new story content, you can also look forward to terrifying Pirate Dreadnought ships to take down.

You can even engage in Death Star-style trench runs against these ships, swooping through their trenches in order to strike at their cores.

This comes in addition to new Multi-Tool salvaging mechanics that let you dismantle surplus weapons for parts and salvage material. A new class of Multi-Tool, the Atlantid, is now also available in "hundreds of variations".

Starship combat has gained new depth, too; you can now divert power to different ship components depending on your situation, so you'll now need to be more strategic when engaging in space dogfights.

If you're fighting against a capital ship, you'll now find that it can be pulverized into stardust, allowing you to collect extra scrap.

There's a ton of other stuff that's been added as part of the No Man's Sky Echoes update, too, so make sure you take a look through the Echoes patch notes if you want to see everything that's new.

No Man's Sky is available right now across PC and consoles, and it's included with a Game Pass subscription, too. The Echoes update is available now as well.
