Nintendo has added five classic Mega Man games to the Nintendo Switch Online library, and they're available to enjoy right now if you're a subscriber.
The first five numbered Mega Man games for the Game Boy, which were originally released between 1991 and 1994, are now on Nintendo Switch Online as part of a basic subscription, so you won't even need the Expansion Pack to enjoy them.
What's more, these games aren't available as part of any of Capcom's Mega Man Legacy Collection compilations. They were available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, but since that service has been discontinued, Nintendo Switch Online is pretty much the only (entirely legal) way to enjoy them on modern hardware.
The Game Boy Mega Man titles generally offer stages, bosses, and enemies that also feature in the main NES Mega Man series, although Mega Man 5 features a set of original bosses.
Four of the Game Boy titles were developed by Minakuchi Engineering, which also worked on the SNES version of Mega Man X3, as well as the Game Boy version of Bionic Commando, another Capcom platformer.
Mega Man 2, on the other hand, was given to Sokoban publisher Thinking Rabbit, although Capcom would return to Minakuchi for the following three games in the Game Boy series after Mega Man 2's quality didn't quite come up to par for the studio.
In any case, if you're already a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber, you can give all five games a try right now, and if you've never played a Mega Man game before, they'll certainly make for an interesting introduction to the series.
These Mega Man games are part of a long list of Game Boy titles available on Nintendo Switch Online. That list also includes classics like Super Mario World, Capcom's The Legend of Zelda: Oracle games, and more.
Additionally, you can also enjoy SNES and NES games if you're a subscriber, and if you fork out for the Expansion Pack, you'll also get access to a range of Sega Genesis, Game Boy Advance, and N64 titles.
You can grab a Nintendo Switch Online subscription right now via the Nintendo eShop.
