The Pokemon Company has released a new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC trailer, showing off the second part of the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero adventure.

The Indigo Disk is due to launch on December 14th, and this latest trailer will be the last one before the DLC arrives, according to The Pokemon Company.

In the trailer, we get to see a bunch of new stuff you'll be able to do as part of The Indigo Disk, including one thing that seems like a no-brainer in retrospect: getting to play as your Pokemon.

Have you ever wanted to actually play as Pikachu? Well, now you can.

The trailer shows a trainer concentrating hard before seemingly entering the consciousness of their Pikachu using a system called the Synchro Machine, then controlling said Pikachu as it runs around the landscape.

You'll be able to battle wild Pokemon using your own 'mon while playing as them, which is neat. It's not clear whether you'll be able to control every single Pokemon in the game yet, but hey, at least you can play as Pikachu!

As well as this new system, we also get to see an absolute ton of Legendary Pokemon, including (but in no way limited to) Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno, as well as the three Legendary Dogs from Pokemon Gold and Silver, Solgaleo and Lunala from Sun and Moon, and Groudon and Kyogre from Ruby and Sapphire.

The new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk trailer also shows Koraidon soaring through the air in a flight minigame, which looks like it'll involve flying through Superman 64-style rings.

Once you've gotten far enough in the DLC, you'll be able to add the permanent ability to fly for either Koraidon or Miraidon, too.

The trailer also introduces Blueberry Quests, otherwise known as BBQs, which will grant snacks that allow you to encounter some of the aforementioned legendary Pokemon.

At the conclusion of the trailer, we get a look at The Indigo Disk's adorable mascot Pokemon Terapagos, which will likely be the focal point of the DLC's storyline.

Per Pokemon news platform Serebii, two new distributions have also arrived, allowing you to get special Pokemon by inputting Mystery Gift codes into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. They are as follows.

  • Shiny Lucario with moves Flash Cannon, Aura Sphere, Bullet Punch, and Ice Punch: SH1NYBUDDY (runs until January 3rd)
  • Darkrai with moves Dark Pulse, Shadow Ball, Hypnosis, and Dream Eater: NEWM00N1SCOM1NG (runs until December 21st)

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's The Indigo Disk DLC arrives on December 14th exclusively for Nintendo Switch. Why not check out our guides for the base game and its Teal Mask DLC if you're planning on picking it up?
