Today Microsoft released a new aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator alongside the free World Update 16, while news also comes from third-party developers.
We start with World Update 16, featuring the Caribbean and including Antigua, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks & Caicos, and the United States Virgin Islands.
It's now available for free on the official marketplace for both PC and Xbox, and it also comes with 104 points of interest and seven airports.
The airports include Dominican Republic’s Gregorio Luperón International Airport (Puerto Plata Airport) (MDPP), Haiti’s Antoine-Simon Airport (MTCA), Jamaica’s Sangster International Airport (MKJS), Trinidad & Tobago’s A.N.R. Robinson International Airport (formerly Crown Point International Airport) (TTCP), North Eleuthera Airport (MYEH) in Bahamas, and Guadeloupe’s Les Saintes Airport (TFFS).
We also get 3 discovery flights, 3 landing challenges, an epic landing challenge, and 3 bush trips. You can check out the trailer below.
With every world update, we also get a Local Legend aircraft, and this time around, Microsoft released the Bell 47J Ranger, which is the first helicopter add-on released directly by the publisher. It's currently available for both PC and Xbox on the official marketplace for $14.99.
It comes with skids and floats variants, each with 7 liveries. You can watch a trailer below.
Perhaps even more interesting is a big change in direction coming to the Airbus A220 by Synaptic Simulations.
The aircraft was supposed to be freeware and open source, but things have changed. The developer has signed a deal with iniBuilds and the two teams with now co-develop the aircraft, which will become payware.
According to the developers, this will both increase the quality of the simulation and lead to a faster release. On top of that, it'll also come to Xbox via the official marketplace on top of releasing for PC on the iniBuilds store.
The -300 variant will be the first to release while the -100 and ACJ business jet variants will be added later as free upgrades.
