Bethesda has announced the release date for the upcoming Starfield update 1.11.33, which the studio describes as the game's largest update since it launched last year.
The update arrives today via the Steam beta branch, so if you're participating in that, you can check it out ahead of the general release, which will happen on PC and Xbox Series X|S on May 15th.
First up, you're getting surface map improvements, which should make it a little easier to find your way around. No more getting lost when you land in New Atlantis and want to know where the shops are.
As well as map improvements, Starfield is also getting some modular difficulty options to allow you to tailor your experience a little better. For instance, you'll be able to alter the difficulty so that ground skirmishes are easier, but ship combat is more challenging.
The update is also bringing the ability to decorate the interior of your ship, so you can make it feel a little more like your own, as well as container tabs, which should make inventory management a little more...well, manageable.
The Xbox Series X version of the game (but not the Xbox Series S version, unfortunately) is also getting some much-needed graphical options; you can now switch between Visuals or Performance prioritization.
You can now select your own frame rate target for Starfield if you're on a VRR display, allowing you to choose between 30, 40, 60, and Uncapped.
If you want a full rundown of the upcoming Starfield update, including more info on how the Xbox Series X's new graphical options will work, you can check out the full patch notes here.
Starfield is the latest open-world action RPG from Bethesda, the creators of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4.
The game launched in September last year and quickly attracted a pretty high player count, although its launch on Game Pass on day one means this number doesn't equate to sales.
You can grab Starfield right now on PC and Xbox Series X|S, and it's also available with a Game Pass subscription. Make sure to check out our review here to find out whether you should give it a try or not, and take a look at our guides for some assistance with this spacefaring adventure.
