Sony has announced that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 hit a pretty impressive sales milestone within its first 24 hours on launch.
The game, which was released just this past Friday, sold over 2.5 million copies in its first day on release, according to the official PlayStation X account.
This achievement also makes Spider-Man 2 the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game in history, which is nothing to be sniffed at considering that other PlayStation Studios titles include Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok.
If you're not up-to-date with Marvel's Spider-Man 2, it's the sequel to both 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man and 2020's standalone expansion-come-sequel Miles Morales.
Starring both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, the game sees the pair facing off against a raft of iconic Spider-Man villains, including Kraven the Hunter, the Lizard, and Venom.
Peter and Miles have different combat abilities, and there are new traversal systems and minigames to enjoy as well.
What's more, the game makes full use of the PlayStation 5's technical capabilities and features several different graphical options, all of which feature ray tracing as standard.
As you've probably guessed, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a pretty high-profile release.
It topped the UK boxed sales charts last week, beating out competition from Nintendo's mammoth Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
The game has also attracted top-tier talent in terms of collaboration, with Japanese-British pop star Rina Sawayama contributing a suit design that will launch sometime in the future.
That, of course, is alongside all of the suits that already exist in the game, many of which are fun callbacks to classic and obscure Spider-Man stories alike.
You can grab Marvel's Spider-Man 2 right now exclusively on PlayStation 5. Unlike Miles Morales, this one's not getting a PS4 release, unfortunately.
Our very own Andrew Stretch reviewed the superhero extravaganza, awarding it 9.5 and praising its traversal, narrative, and dense world.
