Lords of the Fallen 2 Coming in 2026 as an Epic Exclusive

CI Games has revealed that Lords of the Fallen 2, which is actually technically Lords of the Fallen 3, will be released in 2026 and will be Epic-exclusive on PC.

CI Games has revealed that Lords of the Fallen 2 is due sometime in 2026, and not only that - it'll be an Epic Games Store exclusive when it launches on PC.

According to a binding term sheet signed between CI and Epic, the upcoming Lords of the Fallen sequel (which, according to past form, will probably also be called Lords of the Fallen) is targeting a 2026 release window.

It doesn't sound like the game will be coming to Steam at all, either. The term agreement says that Epic has "exclusive worldwide distribution rights" on PC for "the entire product life cycle", so it looks like you won't be playing Lords of the Fallen 2-slash-on Steam.

Lords of the Fallen appeared on Steam, but it looks like Lords of the Fallen 2 won't.

The game will still be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, though, and CI Games is retaining publishing rights, so Lords of the Fallen 2 won't be published by Epic.

Since we're a long way out from 2026 at time of writing, a lot could change between now and the sequel's release, but if this agreement holds, then you might have to make the switch if you want to enjoy CI Games' followup to its 2023 Soulslike.

This is also the first concrete confirmation that CI Games' Project 3, which the studio has spoken about in the past, is definitely a followup to Lords of the Fallen and not an action-RPG under the umbrella of a separate IP.

Project 3 isn't CI Games' only title in the pipeline, though; the studio is also working alongside internal outfit Underdog on Project Survive, although details are scant about that game right now.

Armored figures in combat in Lords of the Fallen
Lords of the Fallen is getting a sequel, and it's due in a couple of years.

If you didn't play Lords of the Fallen, it's a reboot-slash-sequel-slash-reimagining of 2014's game of the same name. Some elements recur between the games, but you won't need to have played the 2014 outing to understand this one.

Lords of the Fallen is a Soulslike that tasks you with traveling the land of Mournstead in order to prevent the revival of the dark god Adyr. Along the way, you can expect tons of fallen knights to slaughter, as well as big bosses to take down and sprawling levels to explore.

You can grab Lords of the Fallen right now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Check out my review here to find out whether you should pick it up or not.
