Today Sega announced via press release that its JRPG Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth has reached a flattering sales milestone.
The game's cumulative physical shipments and digital sales have passed 1 million copies worldwide within the first seven days since its release on January 26, 2024.
This also makes it the fastest-selling game of the whole history of the Yakuza series (or "Like a Dragon," if you're new around here).
Sega will celebrate the milestone with an in-game reward in the form of the "Celebratory T-Shirt Set." We don't yet know what it'll look like or when it'll be released, but you'll find it in the game at some point in the near future. It's worth mentioning that the press release cautions that the name of the set is not final, and may change before it's released.
Update: Sega revealed the looks of some of the T-Shirts on X (formerly Twitter). You can see them below.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you'd like to know why it's so successful, you can read our review, which awarded it with an 8 out of 10.
If you want to join the million players mentioned above, you can grab a copy of the game on Amazon.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is pretty special for Yakuza veterans. While the seventh mainline game of the series (Yakuza: Like a Dragon) replaced the series' traditional protagonist Kazuma Kiryu with the new and starry-eyed kid on the block Ichiban Kazuma, Infinite Wealth (which is simply titled Ryu Ga Gotoku 8 in Japan) brings the two protagonists together to fight side-by-side.
Incidentally, the events between Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life and Infinite Wealth are narrated in Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, released in November 2023. It's pretty essential to find out what happened to Kiryu-san while the spotlight was on Ichiban Kasuga in Yokohama.
