Today, tabletop developer Son of Oak concluded their Kickstarter campaign for Legend in the Mist with more than sixteen times its initial funding goal. This TTRPG is a rustic fantasy that builds on the foundation of the award-winning City of Mist.
The Legend in the Mist Kickstarter Success
According to the campaign page, Legend in the Mist funded the creation of two books. One is the Core Rulebook, and the other is the Hearts of Ravensdale Setting Book. That setting is inspired by many iconic works such as Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time, and Princess Mononoke.
This is a notable change in genre for Son of Oak. Their last TTRPG, City of Mist, was set in the world of modern fantasy, balancing supernatural elements with mundane life. In addition, many TTRPGs that use this game's system remained in that distinct genre like Masks and Queerz.
In addition, the Legend in the Mist Kickstarter provided backers with a lot of rewards and stretch goals. The range of accessories included premade character folios, a GM screen, cards, dice, and maps. The stretch goals included bonuses such as soundtracks, official VTT support, and additional booklets.
The Legend in the Mist campaign concluded with $855,686 funded. That is more than sixteen times its initial funding goal of $50,000. While this amount didn't lead to all stretch goals being unlocked, it is still considerable.
This sentiment is stated in the campaign's update page. In this update, Son of Oak thanks all backers for the success while laying out a production roadmap. This includes the campaign's pledge manager going live in the first week of April.
Not only will this allow backers to add payment information, but it will also allow them to upgrade their pledges and add any add-ons. Interestingly, if these pledge upgrades hit a certain amount, the remaining stretch goals in the campaign, the Twilight Deck, Campaign, and Community Dev Packs, will be unlocked.
Fulfillment for the Legend in the Mist campaign will begin April-May 2024 for digital goods, followed by physical goods in June-July 2024.
