There’s a lot in store for you as you explore the district of Dogtown in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Apart from a stellar expansion campaign and dozens of iconic weapons, you can also tackle repeatable activities. Our Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty airdrops guide discusses these instances, as well as the enemies you can encounter and various rewards that you can grab.
These events tend to happen randomly. As such, you’ll want to be on the lookout whenever they occur. They’re certainly worth it owing to all the goodies that can be yours.
Where to Find Airdrops in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
The Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty airdrops can be found all over the district of Dogtown, assuming you own the expansion. While exploring the district, you might hear the roar of an aircraft in the sky. Soon thereafter, you’ll see red smoke in the distance. This marks the location of an airdrop.
Most of the time, I’ve seen airdrops while exploring Dogtown at night. But there were also instances when I spotted them during the day. In any case, once you approach the location, you’re likely to encounter any of the following:
- A single gang — In most cases, several hostiles from a single gang are already there.
- Turf warfare — There are moments when two gangs are fighting over the loot.
- No enemies — Very rarely, you might see an airdrop that’s undefended.
If there are enemies in the area, I suggest eliminating all of them to earn additional XP and loot. Alternatively, you can use Optical Camo or other related perks to remain undetected, though this is not advisable—trust me, I’ve been spotted a few times, so I had to high-tail it after looting the crate. There were also situations when I had to battle drones and mechs. If you spot these opponents, I recommend using a variety of firearms and quickhacks to take them out swiftly.
How to Open Airdrops and Get Rewards
The goal once you’ve found an airdrop is to interact with the large container. This normally brings up the hacking interface, where you need to input the correct code sequence. Once you’re able to do that, the container becomes lootable.
Airdrop rewards include level-appropriate gear (i.e. tier 4 to 5 weapons, quickhacks, and mods). You can also find some shards that increase your stats, such as carrying capacity, and eurodollars/credits. In some instances, it’s also possible to receive Iconic-rarity loot (the highest tier). However, we’ve only seen iconic cyberware equipment, not actual weapons.
That’s it: that’s everything you need to know about how to get airdrops in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Since you're tackling a repeatable activity, you might as well check out our vehicle contracts/courier missions guide.
