HoYoverse has announced the Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.3 release date, and the latest update for the turn-based gacha RPG is launching later this month.
Titled "Farewell Penacony", the update will follow on from May's Version 2.2 and will launch on June 19th. It'll see the crew of the Astral Express soaring into the skies above Penacony to board the Radiant Feldspar and watch the Family try to fix its issues.
The Trailblaze Mission in Version 2.3 will revolve around "crucial Family discussions", but the Radiant Feldspar has other delights to offer as well, including a new Origami Birds minigame and gameplay improvements courtesy of Mr. Screwllum's new "Divergent Universe" project.
Two new five-star characters will also make their debut during Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.3.
The first, Jade, is a Quantum-type character with a unique "Debt Collector" mechanic. She can appoint one of her party members as her Debt Collector, and any attack launched by Jade or her designated Collector charges a meter. Once that meter is full, Jade launches an additional attack against all enemies.
The second five-star character in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.3 is Firefly, who can summon her SAM armor in battle. You'll even get an internal perspective within the mech's cockpit, which is a pretty impressive extra.
Two extra five-star characters will also make a return in Version 2.3. You'll get another chance to grab Ruan Mei and Argenti, who will reappear during the first and second halves of the update, respectively.
Honkai: Star Rail is a free-to-play turn-based gacha RPG from HoYoverse, the creator of Genshin Impact and the upcoming Zenless Zone Zero.
Like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail revolves around building teams and discovering synergies for effective combat strategies, but since the combat is turn-based, you'll need to have your thinking cap on rather than your reflex hat.
You can check out Honkai: Star Rail for free right now on PC, PlayStation 5, and mobile devices.
