A new Helldivers 2 update is upon us, and this one brings a much-needed nerf to burn damage, so those pesky fire tornadoes shouldn't wipe you out quite as quickly.
Since Helldivers 2 launched in February, it's received updates targeting things like fixing crashes, adding new planetary hazards, and more.
This latest update brings a 15% drop in all burn damage, although it's not clear whether that also includes burn damage inflicted on enemies as well as on you and your allies.
Several weapons have also received balance changes, including the BR-14 Adjudicator, which was feeling a little underpowered.
The Adjudicator is now classed as an assault rifle, and the Full Auto mode is its default firing mode, which should stem some of the confusion around what kind of a weapon it is. It's also had its recoil reduced and its magazine capacity increased.
Other changes include a drop in movement speed for Bile Spewers and Nursing Spewers, as well as direct flamethrower damage for the Automatons' Hulk Scorcher being reduced. You should hopefully no longer get surprise one-shotted by a Hulk with a grudge.
Of course, there are numerous other changes in this Helldivers 2 update, so make sure to check out the patch notes if you want to know the full extent of what's changed.
Over the weekend, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead also took a chance to take a sly dig at the recent Escape from Tarkov controversy via a post on X.
Escape from Tarkov dev Battlestate Games has been in trouble with its community for controversial bonuses being offered as part of the game's new Unheard Edition, and the Helldivers 2 X post mocks that controversy.
In the post, Arrowhead says players should check out Acquisition Center deals with "prices so low, they're practically Unheard of", including armor that costs 250 Super Credits (a reference to the Unheard Edition's price) and features "increased pocket size". Oho, indeed.
If you've somehow missed out on the Helldivers 2 hype, it's a third-person multiplayer-focused shooter in which teams of players complete objectives while slaughtering hordes of insects or automaton enemies.
Released in early February, the game quickly skyrocketed up the Steam charts, amassing more than 450,000 players at the apex of its popularity. It remains hugely popular today; at last count, its 24-hour player total stood at 166,000.
Helldivers 2 is available right now for PC and PlayStation 5. Check out our review to see what we thought of the game!
