Guilty Gear Strive is getting an anime adaptation, developer Arc System Works and anime studio Sanzigen have announced.
Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers will seemingly adapt not only Strive, but also "the long-running Guilty Gear fighting video game series", per an announcement on the official Guilty Gear website.
The two studios also shared the first artwork for Dual Rulers, which depicts series regulars Sol Badguy and Sin Kiske, as well as what appears to be a new character that we haven't seen before, although my Guilty Gear knowledge is pretty rusty so I might be wrong. Here's the artwork in all its glory.
The anime will be produced by Sanzigen Studios, whose name you'll know if you're a big Guilty Gear fan; it's the studio that produced the music video for protagonist Sol Badguy's theme "Find Your One Way".
The series' director will be Shigeru Morikawa, who's worked on productions like Uta no Prince-sama, Mobile Suit Gundam, and The Familiar of Zero, among others.
Guilty Gear writer Norimitsu Kaihō, who also worked on the Danganronpa 3 anime adaptation, will be on "series composition" duty (presumably writing, not music), and Fullmetal Alchemist director Seiji Mizushima will serve as an associate producer on the project.
Just in case you need a refresher, here's a quick look at Sol Badguy's "Find Your One Way" music video to give you an idea of what Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers will probably look like.
Arc System Works says more details about Dual Rulers will be shared soon, and if you're lucky enough to be attending Anime Expo 2024, you'll also get a behind-the-scenes look at the anime, as well as a first glimpse at a teaser trailer.
Elsewhere in the world of Guilty Gear Strive, the game's latest DLC character Slayer was recently released, and the fourth season is already in development. Perhaps that's when we'll get to find out who the character in Dual Rulers' artwork is! Stay tuned for more.
