Nintendo has announced that Golden Sun and its sequel, Golden Sun: The Lost Age, are heading to Nintendo Switch Online next week.
Golden Sun was first revealed to be heading to Switch Online when Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games were announced for the service in February 2023.
It's been a long time coming, but you'll finally be able to revisit this classic RPG and its followup on January 17th, when the two games become part of the Switch Online Expansion Pack addon.
The original Golden Sun follows Isaac, a young man who must try to prevent the return of the destructive force Alchemy.
To call The Lost Age a traditional sequel might be a misnomer; it's more of a direct followup, with the two games forming a complete whole thanks to their complementary stories.
Rather uniquely, you'll take the role of Golden Sun's antagonists in The Lost Age, or at least those that remain following the events of the first game (no spoilers!).
If you're a JRPG fan, it's definitely worth giving both Golden Sun games a go, especially if you were a fan of Sabotage Studio's popular RPG Sea of Stars, which seems to be pretty heavily inspired by Camelot's games.
Since 2010's Golden Sun: Dark Dawn was released on the DS, it won't be joining the Switch Online library. Hey, maybe the Switch 2 (which could be on the way this year) will get DS games as part of its own Switch Online range.
Golden Sun and The Lost Age join a range of Nintendo Switch Online GBA games, with the service also offering titles like Fire Emblem, the Super Mario Advance series, and Metroid Fusion, among others.
You can sign up to Nintendo Switch Online and its Expansion Pack addon via the Nintendo eShop on your Switch. Stay tuned for more news on all things Nintendo Switch Online.
