11 bit studios has announced the PC requirements you're going to need if you want to take part in the Frostpunk 2 beta next month, and they could give us a glimpse into the final PC specs for the game.
In its announcement post, 11 bit says these requirements are applicable for the beta and that they "might" change before the full game is launched. Still, the specs give us a good ballpark figure for what the final numbers will look like.
As you can probably imagine, your PC isn't going to need to be too powerful if you want to run Frostpunk 2, even at the Recommended level, but you will need a decently-specced gaming PC.
Here's a quick rundown of the Frostpunk 2 beta PC specs, which should be roughly equivalent to the specs you'll need for the full game. Both Minimum and Recommended tiers will require a 64-bit installation of Windows 10 or above, and you'll also need DX12 and at least 20GB of disk space.
Minimum
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 or Intel Core i5 2.5 GHz
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 550 4GB or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB
- 8GB RAM
Recommended
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 or Intel Core i7 2.8 GHz
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700 8GB or Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 8GB
- 16GB RAM
As you can see, most mid-range PCs should effortlessly meet the Recommended requirements for Frostpunk 2. Hopefully, these specs don't change too much between now and the game's final release.
If you're unfamiliar with Frostpunk 2, it's the sequel to 11 bit studios' gritty survival-based city-builder Frostpunk, which launched back in 2018.
Announced all the way back in 2021, the game will introduce new mechanics like district-building, a strong emphasis on factions, and greater citizen involvement in policy decisions.
Frostpunk 2 launches on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on July 25th, and it's also hitting Game Pass on day one. A closed beta is due to be held next month, but it's only available to those who have pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition.
