Square Enix and the Japanese luxury department store Isetan are hosting a really cool Final Fantasy XIV collaboration event in Shinjuku, one of the beating hearts of Tokyo's shopping.
The event, announced back in August, celebrates the 10th anniversary of the release of A Realm Reborn in 2013, alongside the 90th anniversary of Isetan Shinjuku's opening.
If you find yourself in Tokyo before Oct. 2, you should definitely pay a visit. If that's not a possibility, don't worry, as I'll try my best to convey the feel of the event to you.
Ul'dah Has Never Looked This Cool
The event is being held on the sixth floor of Isetan Shinjuku, one of the most famous luxury malls in the world. As soon as you enter the large event space, you're welcomed by a beautiful diorama of the city of Ul'dah.
It's so cool, that we decided to cover it in its own article, where you can check out more screenshots and a detailed video.
In front of the diorama, a panel celebrated the decade-long journey of many Warriors of Light (albeit some of us have been at it since the launch of the original Final Fantasy XIV, 13 years ago).
This is the 14th game in the "Final Fantasy" series. As the main character of the story, you will explore the vast online world with your adventurer friends from all over the world.
How you play this game is up to you. You can create your own character and have fun in your own way, not only through the deep story and heated battles, but also by building houses, fishing, and playing minigames.
You can even engage in authentic fashion coordination by combining your favorite items!
Although it's a fantasy world, it's as vivid and lively as reality. Why don't you dive into the world of Final Fantasy XIV too?
Final Fantasy XIV Glamours Are Always En Vogue
Moving on a bit to the side, you can find the area dedicated to Vogue Japan, with the character looks submitted by players showcased on screenshots and on the magazine itself, alongside dedicated apparel.
The whole floor is full of original Final Fantasy XIV merchandise. While there is a small area dedicated to Square Enix's official items, the lion's share is taken by creations of various brands and artisans.
While there are too many to cover individually, you can find a full gallery at the bottom of the post, so you'll be able to enjoy everything I've seen.
This Final Fantasy XIV Merchandise Is Quite Special
Of course, there was plenty of apparel, from a number of T-shirts to a lovely lineup of original socks by Tabio.
Jewelry also enjoyed quite the presence, with several pieces by a number of brands, inspired by Crystals and even a reproduction by Biju mam of Menphina's Earring that many of us used while leveling our jobs to 80.
Those who love Haurchefant will likely appreciate the lighter by Zippo reproducing our old friend's shield and the emotional line, "Until then, my friend!"
I will admit I was tempted by this one, and I don't even smoke.
Another lovely item is the Handkerchief by H TOKYO reproducing the Starbird from Endwalker.
Those who love traditional Japanese items will likely adore the kokeshi (wooden dolls) by Usaburo no Mago reproducing a Moogle, a Loporrit, and an ancient minion.
Hungry or Thirsty? No Problem at this Final Fantasy XIV Event
Of course, this kind of event wouldn't be complete without food items. Perhaps the most adorable are the macarons by Pierre Hermé Paris, inspired by the Loporrit's colorful carrots.
Yet, there's much more on the menu, from blended coffee inspired by the Four Lords to tea dedicated to various cities in Eorzea and beyond.
For those who enjoy drinking, the event also hosts a tasting corner where you can try out and purchase whiskey bottles by Nagahama Distillery inspired by the three main city-states, Ul'dah, Gridania, and Limsa Lominsa.
Visitors who enjoy creative endeavors can purchase and hang wooden Ema (votive tablets usually used as shrines) with their drawings and wishes.
Last, but not least, visitors can take a break at the temporary branch of the Eorzea Cafe, enjoying food and drinks themed after Final Fantasy XIV.
Below you can enjoy the full gallery of pictures I took during the Final Fantasy XIV event, portraying every item available for your perusal.
If you're unfamiliar with Final Fantasy XIV, you can get a copy for PS5, PS4, and PC, with an Xbox Series X|S version coming soon.
A new expansion titled Dawntrail will be released next summer. Soon er in the the release schedule is patch 6.5 named "Growing Light," which is slated for Oct. 3 and on which we recently learned quite a few new details during the latest Letter from the Producer Live from Tokyo Game Show.
