The third major update for Wartales is here, and it adds in co-op for up to four players to enjoy. You'll all be able to explore the majestic city that was added a few months ago, as well as the rest of the large and expansive open world. Overall, co-op sounds great, if a little confusing: you (and your friends, presumably), will be able to choose your characters, classes, and roles in the troop. The group will also be able to decide who should take care of the pony, which is undoubtedly the most important decision that will have to be made.
You'll also be able to customize how the characters look so that they fit the morally compromised representations of your troop. Would you have long, scraggly hair or a permanent scowl on your face? Be sure to show that on your in-game character.
Interestingly, each player is free to lead the troop, so be sure to keep talking to each other to ensure that everyone is in the loop. After all, Wartales isn't the most friendly of places, so in order to survive everyone will have to work together and decide together. This means everyone has to agree on side jobs, activities, or anything else that could impact the troop.
The members of the troop can be assigned different tasks and professions, but only one of you can use any available equipment, so make sure everyone is happy with any potential decisions. This also means that while everyone has their own inventory and money is split between the troop, giving people items that they need will only serve to help make the game a better experience for everyone else. In-game combat also has players controlling their own characters, so be sure to make the right decisions as well so that you and your friends stay alive.
Be sure to take a look at the full Wartales co-op announcement for more info on this new feature. The game itself is available on Steam right now, where it's currently in Early Access and will set you back $34.99 or your regional equivalent.
