Bethesda has announced the release date for the long-awaited Fallout 4 PS5 and Xbox Series X|S update.
Per a post on the official Fallout website, the update will land on April 25th and will be free for everyone who owns the game on PS4 or Xbox One. This update was originally scheduled to land last year, but was delayed, so it's nice to see a release date appearing at last.
Fallout 4 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will come complete with a choice between Performance and Quality modes, which will offer "up to 60 FPS and increased resolutions". This being a Bethesda game, "up to" is probably the operant phrase.
If you're playing on PS4 or Xbox One, you can still expect "stability improvements, login and quest fixes" from this update, and there's new content to look forward to as well.
The update will include content from the Fallout 4 Creation Club, including the Enclave Remnants pack, which includes a new quest, plus lots of skins and gear themed around the Enclave. All of this stuff is free, too.
Amusingly, Bethesda also says a PC update for Fallout 4 is coming, and it will include "widescreen and ultra-widescreen support" for your "next-generation PC". If Bethesda thinks widescreen is a "next-generation" feature...well, that would explain a lot.
The update will also coincide with Fallout 4's launch on the Epic Games Store, as well as a coveted Steam Deck Verified stamp for the game. Now you can enjoy "next-generation" widescreen support on the go!
There's plenty to look forward to right now if you're a Fallout fan. Not only is Fallout 4 getting the aforementioned updates, but Amazon's TV show has just launched to rave reviews, not least from ourselves.
Lots of Fallout-themed goodies and updates are also being made available to celebrate the launch of the TV show, including a Fallout Shelter update, limited-edition Elgato gear, and more.
Stay tuned for more news on all things Fallout-related.
