A new Fallout 4 charity mod has been released, and it features the voice talents of an actor who's practically legendary if you've played Bethesda's RPGs.
Shady Motives adds a brand new quest to Fallout 4, and its lead voice actor is none other than Wes Johnson, who provided the voice for iconic characters like Oblivion's Lucien Lachance and Sheogorath, as well as Fallout 3's Fawkes.
The mod was created in just one weekend, with community members coming together as part of Johnson's Voiceapalooza charity event in order to vote on what should be included. Once the mod's elements had been decided on, modders then came together for a weekend to create it.
As well as a new quest, Shady Motives adds a host of other new content to Fallout 4, including a brand new dungeon to explore, a player home to call your own, and a new companion to get to know.
You can also look forward to new gear, including weapons and armor, so you won't walk away from your adventure empty-handed.
The mod is, of course, free to download on PC and Xbox, but if you want, you can donate to the Alzheimer's Association from the mod's page, with a default donation of $10 being set up for you (which can be changed) if you choose to do so.
So far, Johnson and the Fallout charity team Fallout For Hope have raised almost $35,000 for the Alzheimer's Association, and earlier this week, the official Fallout For Hope X (formerly Twitter) account revealed that it has raised more than $100,000 in total for the charity.
Johnson's charity efforts are far from over, too. Tomorrow, he'll be teaming up with fellow Fallout voice actors like Jon Gentry and Courtenay Taylor for a Fallout-themed Q&A, which will take place at 5pm Eastern (that's 2pm Pacific).
At a time when the industry is looking pretty gloomy and layoffs are becoming endemic, it's nice to see charity initiatives like this and the Poppy Playtime LGBTQ+-supporting shirt. Stay tuned for more.
