The EVE: War For New Eden Kickstarter
According to its campaign page, EVE: War For New Eden is a competitive 4X strategy board game. Players take on the role of four different factions: Amarr, Caldari, Gallente, and Minmatar, and take turns exploring space, expanding territory, exploiting tech discovery, and exterminating their enemies.
To this end, EVE: War For New Eden attempts to bring the complexity and depth of EVE Online to gaming tables. The game contains over 100 ship miniatures, hundreds of cards and tokens, player boards, and 20 custom dice. Each game is designed for 2-4 players and can be completed in about two hours.
In addition, the campaign includes multiple expansions and stretch goals. The expansions include new factions like Havoc and Titan and the Succession expansion, which adds a wide range of successors to each faction's leadership. The stretch goals improve the materials used in each copy of the game: thicker card stock, box linen finish, etc..
Finally, if you back EVE: War For New Eden, the box of the core game will include either an EVE Online: Starter Pack or EVE Online: Bronze Starter Pack digital item code. This will provide you with an amount of currency, skill points, cosmetic items, and a limited Omega membership.
The various backer tiers for the campaign are as follows:
- Capsuleer Pledge for $139: The EVE: War For New Eden base game, all stretch goals, and the EVE Online: Starter Pack.
- Veteran Pledge for $236: Everything above, and the Titan, Havoc, and Azariel Expansions.
- Relic Seeker Pledge for $431: A 200% larger version of EVE: War For New Eden, all stretch goals, all expansions, an EVE Online: Starter Pack code, and an EVE Online: Bronze Starter Pack code.
The EVE: War For New Eden campaign concluded with $682,765 raised, which is more than ten times its initial funding goal of $54,074. While the campaign has concluded, those interested can become a late backer.
