Epic Games had unveiled the new publishing brand, and the company is set to publish the next games from Control developer Remedy, The Last Guardian developer Gen Design, and Inside developer Playdead.
All three developers will see their games released on multiple platforms, as well as PC with Epic describing them as "a new multiplatform publishing effort with a developer-first approach.” These games may not necessarily be exclusive to the Epic Games Store either. The games are also being described as 'next-gen' suggesting they may also get a release on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Alongside the publishing deal, the developers will own their IP's and receive 50% of the profits made. All the titles are fully funded and salaries, marketing, and localisation will all be paid for by Epic.
Hector Sanchez, the Head of the publishing label offered a statement on the collaboration between Epic and the three developers:
“Gen Design, Remedy, and Playdead are among the most innovative and talented studios in the industry, with strong visions for their next games. They will have full creative control, while Epic will provide a solid foundation of project funding and services.”
Epic released a short video highlighting the mission of the publishing label and the talent all three studios bring:
All three studios currently have new projects in the works, with Playdead and Gen Design's last titles both releasing back in 2016. Remedy has already worked with Epic Games, with Control being an Epic Games Store exclusive, and now two new games will be published by Epic Games.
The most surprising collaboration is between Epic and Gen Design founder Fumito Ueda, who has long collaborated with Sony on PlayStation exclusive titles.
