Bandai Namco and From Software have released an Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree update, and if you've been struggling with the DLC's difficulty, this one's for you.

The update is a small one; it doesn't have extensive patch notes, nor does it make any adjustments to things like boss movesets, so if your woes are related to some of Shadow of the Erdtree's more hair-raising boss moments, you won't find what you're looking for here.

However, this update does make some changes to the Shadow Realm Blessings you can obtain to boost your damage and negate incoming pain.

If this guy's giving you trouble, help may be available.

In short, this Elden Ring DLC update increases attack damage and incoming damage negation for "the first half of the maximum amount of Blessing enhancements". The second half will represent a more gradual increase.

Additionally, the final level of Blessings will now grant slightly more attack power and damage negation, so if you're using Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ash, you should notice a difference.

If you're experiencing an unstable frame rate on the PC version of Elden Ring, this update recommends that you check the Ray Tracing setting, which may have defaulted to being switched on if you've loaded your save from previous versions of the game.

Future balance adjustments and bug fixes are coming soon as well, so if these fixes don't smooth out your Shadow of the Erdtree experience, don't worry; more changes are on the way.

Hopefully, your fights in Shadow of the Erdtree should be a bit easier now.

This update arrives after Shadow of the Erdtree attracted a "Mixed" rating on Steam, with players complaining about a high level of difficulty and poor performance for the PC version of the game.

A few days ago, Bandai Namco wryly addressed the controversy on X (formerly Twitter), suggesting that players utilize their Scadutree Blessings. It feels like the latest update makes that advice even more essential.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is available right now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. It's a DLC expansion for the massively popular open-world action RPG Elden Ring, adding new bosses, locations, and more. You can check out our review of Shadow of the Erdtree right here.
