Our Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Character Recruitment Guide will go over how to recruit each member of the game's extensive character roster.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes features a whopping 120 characters for Nowa to recruit during his adventure. Some can be recruited merely by talking to them, while others will have conditions before they can join.

As far as we can tell, potentially one character is missable. While you can revisit areas even when it doesn't make much sense for that part of the story, one character is seemingly only available before a certain point in the story. Recruited characters can be taken over into new game plus, so it isn't too hard to recruit them in a new playthrough if that is the case.

While only one character is (probably) missable, the rest can be recruited at any time once they become available. Most will be tied behind progressing through the story, often requiring you to go back to previous areas.

This list does not include the 42 characters that will always join as part of the main story.

Iugo

Inside the pub in Eltisweiss.

Mellore

Head up the middle stairway in Eltiswiess to trigger a cutscene. Then go to the town exit, and head to Redthroat Ridge. All you have to do is travel through the area with Mellore and beat the boss at the end.

Kuroto

West of the entrance in Altverden Village. He'll require you to kill 3 Wild Boar, which can be found in Redthroat Ridge.

Francesca

Northwest part of Altverden Village.

Yume

Speak to the old lady slightly west of the entrance in Werne Village. She'll say that Yume went to play with friends in the nearby mountains but hasn't returned. You can find her a short ways into Redthroat Ridge.

Yusuke

Found on the main path of Fort Xialuke.

Huang

West side of the Arenside Village, by the river. Talking to him for the first time and saying you like fishing will get you a Bamboo Rod. Can then be found later on in the story in Hishahn, by the river near the appraiser. He wants a Wheel-Eye Bream, which is caught via the fishing spot in Seaside Cavern (will likely take a few tries).

Hiro

Found in area of the Abandoned Mine with the multiple twisting paths. While you can talk to him during your first encounter, he can only be recruited after town building is unlocked.

After Town Building is Unlocked

Martha

Found in the east side of your town.

Kerrin

Head east after entering Dappled Forest. She requires 20 Lumber, which can be found from the multiple gathering points in the area.

Wyler

Near the entrance of Bounty Hill. He asks you to help find his sister.

First head to the gathering point slightly to the north and view the cutscene, then go east to the path near the river. Finally, head up north, then west to trigger an encounter (one easy enemy).

Marin

Unlocks alongside Wyler.

Gieran

North side of the Greatwood-East. He wants a Rune of Conservation, which drops from the boss in the next area, The Greatwood-East-Depths.

Mariette

Sitting on bench by the sea in Twinhorne East. They mention that they lost a charm in the Greatwood.

When in South Greatwood, a chest will be available as a gimmick when fighting rabbit archwitches. This contains the charm.

Pastole

Standing next to the item shop in Twinhorne East.

Squash

Standing next to trader in the Treefolk Village. He wants a sparklestone.

Sparklestones are a random drop from Phantombirds, which can be found in Dappled Forest (accessories like the Lucky Badge help).

Kurtz

Found in the middle of Hishahn. Wants the Tutuva recipe.

To get the recipe, head to Treefolk Village and talk to the NPC at the top of the stairs nearest to the trader

Riufan

Northwest in Hishahn, drinking on the wooden platform. You need to be a high enough level before he'll ask to fight.

He agreed to fight when our Nowa was lv 34. It's a 1v1 fight with just Nowa, so we recommend taking at least 1 quality healing herb.

Nell

Northwest in Hishahn. Interact with the large bag behind the stall.

Carrie

From the entrance of Hishahn, going on the north path triggers a cutscene. Then head to the northeast part of town (near the shop stalls). Finally, head to the southern bridge.

Gigina

West of entrance to Arenside.

Glen

Northwest side of Arenside Village. Need to win a round of the card game against him (though you have infinite attempts).

Reid

Southwest part of Eltisweiss. After watching the cutscene, head to unmarked building to the east. This unlocks the Beigoma minigame, part of recruiting both Reid and the next character.

Dr. Corque

Appears during the storyline with Reid.

To recruit both, you must go through the entire Beigoma storyline, which requires you to fight Beigoma opponents in areas you don't have yet. The full list of the areas you need to visit are

Falward

Northwest building in Altverden Village. Requires 15 healing herbs, which can be bought from the item shop.

Frida

At the shop to the west of Werne Village's entrance.

Pieter

Northwest part of Werne Village, by crops

Galdorf

Standing inside the Abandoned Mine by the entrance. Requires Palenight Mail (can find one lying on the ground in the northwest near Ormond).

Ormond

Northwest side of first map in the Abandoned Mine. Wants 3 Ore — you can get Iron Ore from the nearby gathering point, and one by heading north, then west.

Maureus

Northwest section of Mountain Path Homeward. Requires Noah to have enough MP.

Hakugin

Head east from Daphan Village's entrance. Have Mio in your party.

Code L

Inside Daphan Village's Rune store. Wants a Rune of Currents (can get one from the boss of Hishahn Old Town).

Faye

Go west after leaving the castle in your town. After the cutscene, head to the northwest building in Daphan Village to unlock B'baba. You'll then have to search for Faye a few times:

• After building the divination building, talk to B'baba, then go to the roof.
• Talk to B'baba once again, then head to the medical room (left on 1F).
• Talk to B'baba one more time, then head to Yume in 2F."

B'baba

Part of Faye's recruitment quest. Recruiting her unlocks the Divination building, letting you view which characters you're missing.

Lam

Talk to Riufan at the inn in your town. Add him to your party, then head to Daphan Village and talk to the NPC next to the Rune shop. Then attempt to leave the village.

For our first playthrough, this quest was bugged and could not be completed. Currently fixed on PC, but not console.

Leon

West exit of your town, lying on the ground.

Story Progression

Aire

Southwest part of Hishahn, after Melridge and the gang join. Recruiting her requires Nowa to have a certain speed stat (he had 141 when we recruited her).

Using Aire in your Support party slot will double your movement speed, making her an invaluable part of the team.

Syd

By the smithy in Hishahn. Requires town level 3 before he'll think about joining.

Give him iron ore (Abandoned Mine), mystic lumber (Dappled Forest midpoint), and dire beastbone (Bounty Hill midpoint). You have to gather these manually, since there's no way to take it out of the town inventory.

Jorhan

By the trader in Hishahn, requires Perrielle in party. Need to fight Scarabs in the Eastern Desert to get Unknown Antiques. Appraise these until you get a Yellow Rose Censer.

Paquia

Near the stables in Arenside. Wants 5 Regular Eggs, which drop from the egg enemy in Grum County.

Mandie

Joins alongside Paquia.

Larla

Inside Eltisweiss's inn. Joins after you get an Epic Success rating on at least one guild mission.

Isha

Southeast by the fountain in Eltisweiss. Has a few quests for you to complete:

• Looking for a black cat. Head west from Isha to the end to find the cat.
• Collect cockatrice eggs by encountering a Cockatrice (adult) in the mountain pass and opening the chest during battle.
• Go to the item shop in Arenside Village.

Fume

East side of Dappled forest, where the midpoint ends. Wants to work with Gocteau, so build the Guild.

Milana

Appears by the Rune Shop in your town once built.

Chron

Along the main south path in your town.

Reyna

Next to the harbor in Dabavin. Have to deal enough damage in roughly 3 rounds, though she wont attack.

Prunella

Inside the inn in Dabavin. Requires 100,000 baqua (she gives half of it back afterward).

Rody

Next to the item shop in Dabavin. Wants a pearl pocket watch.

Must be identified from Unknown Pocket-Watch item (can get one in Seaside Cavern, otherwise they drop from Xibalba in Castle Harganthia).

Enoe

West of entrance in Daphan Village, after recruiting Fume.

Douglas

In the Eltisweiss smithy. Needs 10 iron ore (abandoned mine).

Shixeen

Next to the card shop after collecting enough cards (we had around 130, and had to complete one match before she appeared). Have to beat her at the card game once.

Quinn

Encountered during the story after entering Impershi'arc, then moves to the east side. Talk to them, then head to the docks.

Their recruitment quest takes you to a new area, includes a boss fight (though you can leave to resupply).

Cabana

East side of Impershi'arc.

Stadler

Head north from the Impershi'arc entrance. Triggers a simple mock war battle.

Scarlet

After completing the story race in Impershi'arc, she'll challenge you to another one if you talk to her in the docks.

Story Progression

CJ

Head to the southern entrance of your town. Take Garoo and Isha to the other Runebarrow (it's on the map) in Grum County-North and complete the dungeon.

Clarke

In front of the fountain east of the shops in Ardinale City. Requires The Star-Cross'd Lovers item (sometimes appears in the Ardinale City item shop).

Dalton

Outside the inn in Twinhorne East.

Celia

Head into the inn and talk to the chef to start cooking battles (must have Kurtz recruited). You must impress four judges with three different dishes.

There are a lot of cooking battles against different opponents, though each attempt always has random judges based on the characters you've recruited. Completing these will unlock Celia.

Exploit: The cooking battle minigame is bugged in current version of Eiyuden Chronicles, leading to all dishes being judges as if they're starters. Coconut Water, Miso Soup, Fried Egg, or Omelette are all safe choices that will usually win.

Chandra

Head to the training grounds in your town. Then go to the Eldroad with Code L in your party (northeast side path). This triggers boss fight.

Durlan

Southwest section of the upper Abandoned Mine (can access via the well near graves in your town).

Goldsmid

Yarnaan 2F. Requires having a character with enough Strength (Nowa had 230 when Goldsmid joined.)

Selbineth

Reach town level 3, and build the mysterious room (can be accessed via the red rune in the jail). Just need to attempt the first challenge, can fail without penalty

Aleior

Talk to Marisa on the ground floor of your castle. Then head to the abandoned mines with her. Aleior is found to the east.

Hogan

Standing on pier in Twinhorne West. Requires trading 50,000 profit worth of trade items (as always, buy low and sell high.)

Rohan

Twinhorne West inn.

Story Progression

Momo

Southeast part of Hishahn. Starting her quest unlocks the back part of Seaside Cavern.

Heading to the back of Seaside Cavern triggers a bossfight. You can lower the water level by hitting the switch a few times, letting you access the harpoon.

Aoi

Standing by the sea in Twinhorne East, just after going down main set of stairs. Requires Iugo in party, and triggers an easy (assuming Iugo is leveled up) 1v1 fight.

Foxiel

East side of Athrabalt. Talk to Kurtz at your town's Inn and make Vegetable Milk Soup.

El Alicanto

Northmost side of north Snowpeak Pass map. Fight a duel, easier if Nowa's weapon is upgraded.

Story Progression

Galladur

Found inside the Proving Grounds, west of the interactable panel. Triggers a battle that must be done in a single turn.

Dijkstra

By the docks in Twinhorne East, take Quinn with you. Leads to a seperate dungeon featuring endgame materials.

Allaby

Inside your town's inn.

Leene

This is the one character that is potentially missable, though not 100% confirmed. She'll finally meet Nowa in one of the endgame cutscenes, assuming you have recruited every other character.

The reason we're not 100% sure whether she's missable is that she still appears in B'baba's list, even if you're after the aformentioned story point and haven't recruited her yet.
