This guide will tell you about the various Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Biomes and the environmental hazards you'll have to deal with.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has a number of different Biomes to explore, just like its parent game Deep Rock Galactic. Navigating and surviving these Biomes will require picking the right Classes and having the right Upgrades. Read on to learn what you need to know to survive!
How Biomes Work in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor
Unlike Deep Rock Galactic, all resources are available in every Biome in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. The enemies are largely the same, too. This may change in future updates as development progresses throughout Early Access.
Although the enemies and resources are the same, each Biome has unique environmental hazards that can make them uniquely challenging. Each Biome also has different Biome Goals for each Hazard Level.
All Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Biomes
Here are all of the available Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Biomes available in the Early Access launch version of the game.
Crystalline Caverns
The Crystalline Caverns are the first and easiest Biome in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. Its unique environmental hazard is pretty tame — you'll encounter useless crystals spread throughout each level of the dive.

Magma Core
As the name implies, the Magma Core is filled with molten magma. Stepping on the glowing orange ground will cause damage over time to your dwarf.
You'll also have to watch out for Exploding Plants. Unlike Deep Rock Galactic, it seems that you cannot shoot the Exploding Plants to make them blow up prematurely; instead, Exploding Plants will detonate when your dwarf gets near them.

Hollow Bough
Hollow Bough has vines growing everywhere. There are two types of vines:
- Regenerating Vines: These brown vines are a little easier to destroy than regular terrain. As their name implies, however, they will grow back in the same place after a short time.
- Bloated Vine: These red, spikey vines are impenetrable as far as we know. You'll have to move around them and find gaps in the vine walls to get to other areas.
The combination of these two types of vines makes Hollow Bough exceptionally difficult to navigate. Upgrading your Mining stat and/or playing with the Driller can make your dives in here a little easier.
If you have a poor Mining stat, you run the risk of getting stuck. It's important to try to stay far ahead of the alien bugs so you have enough time to navigate around the red Bloated Vines.
