Motion Twin and Evil Empire have released a throwback teaser trailer that gives us a sneak peek of the upcoming Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania DLC.
This upcoming DLC will be the biggest content update to ever hit Dead Cells, with two brand-new biomes to traverse, 14 iconic weapons to collect, and massive amounts of ghastly enemies to encounter. This throwback content gives players some of their favorite weapons from Castlevania, including the Vampire Killer, Throwing Axe, and Holy Water. Each of these weapons has been updated and tweaked to fit the fast-paced and intense style we know and love from Dead Cells.
Taking on Dracula himself within the castle walls, the storyline takes on a different approach than the original game. Richter Belmont approaches The Beheaded after this strange castle appears seemingly out of nowhere. Hoping to find new loot and treasures untold, players will make their way into the familiar scene, only to encounter extremely difficult monsters and undead heathens. The DLC will even include 51 Castlevania soundtracks and 12 extra songs that have been remastered to fit the Dead Cells aesthetic.
Castlevania is one of the most iconic action-adventure games to come to the market, making its first appearance back in 1986. The gothic-horror game took off in Japan and made its way to the West fairly quickly, where it branched out into several spin-offs over the years. The player started out as Simon Belmont who came from a family of vampire hunters and finally made their way to the head honcho, Dracula. The Holy Water, which is making a comeback in the Dead Cells DLC, was originally used as a small AOE bomb that did fire damage to enemies. It was one of the very first weapons players had a chance to use during the original title, so it coming back around is exciting for those who took on the 2D sidescroller for the first time all those years ago.
There is currently no set release date for the Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania DLC, but the developers say to stay tuned to their Twitter page for the latest updates and information.
