In 2021, R. Talsorian Games and Monster Fight Club released Cyberpunk Red: Combat Zone. This skirmish game gave players a taste of tactical gameplay in the dystopian dark future. Now, the studios announced Cyberpunk Edgerunners: Combat Zone, featuring characters from the beloved Netflix series.
The Cyberpunk Edgerunners: Combat Zone announcement
According to its official product page, Cyberpunk Edgerunners: Combat Zone puts players in the roles of the titular characters from the animated streaming series. It is set in the dark future of 2070, a world where cybernetically enhanced mercenaries ply their trade against dangerous megacorporations in the metropolis of Night City.
The game uses the patented [RE]action game system, which is fast-paced to resolve combat and movement. Instead of measuring tape or tools, the game uses a color-coded system of cards and plastic limiters that determines the effective ranges of attacks and abilities.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners: Combat Zone is a standalone experience, but it is perfectly compatible with Cyberpunk Red: Combat Zone.
The game contains two complete gangs. The Santo Domingo Edgerunners comprises of David Martinez, Lucy, Kiwi, Becca, Dorio, Maine, and Falco. The second gang, Arasaka Corporation, includes armored guards as well as named characters Jimmy Kurosaki, Tanaka, and Adam Smasher.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners: Combat Zone includes 24 vibrant, full-color acrylic standees, 3D terrain, detailed miniatures of each of the main characters, program gear, and loot decks, as well as dice and limiters.
In addition, you may be able to get a moment from the animated series memorialized. If you sign up for the game's newsletter, you can win a "The Moment" Smasher vs. Becca miniature, depicting the characters from a memorable (and tragic) exchange between the two characters.
Alternatively, if you pre-order Cyberpunk Edgerunners: Combat Zone, you will receive a The Moment art print in the box.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners is a prequel to the Cyberpunk 2077 videogame developed by CD Projekt RED in collaboration with creator Mike Pondsmith.
