ArtPlay and 505 Games have announced the release date for the upcoming Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Classic 2 DLC, and it's just around the corner.

Classic II: Dominique's Curse, to give it its full title, launches on June 11th. It follows on from the game's first Classic mode, which was released back in January 2021.

The new DLC picks up where the main story of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night left off. You play as Dominique, who finds herself in Limbo after the events of the original game. She must acquire the power of the demon Bael for herself and attempt to escape.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night's second Classic mode follows Dominique on her journey through Limbo.

This mode will feature the same retro-inspired gameplay as the original Classic mode, which was in turn inspired by the original Castlevania games (although not quite to the same degree as the Curse of the Moon spinoffs).

It'll offer a huge new map to explore, as well as new abilities and artifacts to acquire, all of which will boost Dominique's power.

As you play, you'll encounter friendly demons who will give you hints, but beware: when night falls, those demons will become your enemies, and you'll have to vanquish them to proceed. If you're a fan of Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest, then it sounds like you'll get a kick out of this new mode.

Ritual of the Night's Classic 2 map is "massive", according to ArtPlay and 505.

If you haven't played Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night yet, it's a 2.5D Metroidvania masterminded by Castlevania legend Koji Igarashi, and it's heavily inspired by that series, to say the least.

It features a huge, non-linear map to explore, plus a mechanic by which you can absorb the souls of defeated enemies, giving you new abilities in battle. Throw in a soundtrack that boasts the involvement of Castlevania's Michiru Yamane and you've got a game Castlevania enthusiasts should be very excited about.

You can check out Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night right now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Be sure to read my review if you need more motivation to pick it up.
