Don't Nod and Focus Entertainment have unveiled the Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden release date. The emotionally-charged action RPG is set to launch for PC and current-gen consoles on November 7th, and a new release date reveal trailer shows some of the creepy imagery the game will use to tell its story.
Banishers was originally announced at The Game Awards last year, and it's now almost ready for primetime, it seems. The game revolves around Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith, who are both lovers and ghost-hunting Banishers. When a mission goes tragically wrong, Antea is killed, leading her and Red to search for a way to free her from her spirit prison.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is, as you might expect from Don't Nod, a narrative-focused RPG, and one in which the studio says choices you make will "dramatically [impact] the story and the fate of New Eden's inhabitants". The dilemma before Red mac Raith is thus: will he uphold his ghost-hunting Banisher oath or sacrifice the living to bring his lover back to life?
As you play, you'll get to experience Red and Antea's story, and you'll be able to play as both of them over the course of Banishers' narrative. You'll have access to supernatural powers and conventional weaponry alike, and you'll need everything at your disposal to deal with the ghosts that bar your path.
In general, Don't Nod's games fall into one of two camps. On the one side, you've got your Life is Strange and your Tell Me Why, and on the other, your Vampyr and your Remember Me. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden falls broadly into the latter category, so although it's still a narrative-led game, you can expect a little more action than Don't Nod games sometimes contain.
You can play Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden when it launches on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on November 7th.
